Connect systems through a controlled workflow
The connector area supports connection setup, authentication configuration and capability selection. Teams can review available connector types in the marketplace, then configure a connection for the relevant environment and test the setup before relying on it for ongoing data exchange.
Connector availability can vary. Some connector entries may be marked as coming soon, so confirm what is currently available in the deployed marketplace rather than assuming every ERP, PLM or data-space system is ready for use.
Map source fields to product records
A mapping defines how fields from an external record correspond to the target DPP data model. The connector workflow supports mapping review and preview, so teams can inspect whether sample source data can be transformed into the expected product record and resolve errors or warnings before a broader sync.
Good mappings need business ownership as well as technical setup. Agree on field meanings, units, identifiers and null handling with the teams that own the source data. Keep a review process for mapping changes so that a source-system update does not silently alter downstream product information.
Monitor runs and handle exceptions
Synchronization activity can be reviewed through execution history, including run status and record outcomes. Depending on the configured connector and capabilities, teams can use supported full or incremental synchronization modes and investigate failed or rejected records.
Integration does not remove the need for data review. Assign owners to resolve errors, verify high-impact fields and keep an audit trail of mapping and synchronization changes. A connector moves information; the business remains responsible for determining whether that information is accurate and suitable for its DPP process.
- Check current marketplace availability and supported capabilities.
- Test authentication and field mappings with representative records.
- Monitor failed records and keep source data corrections traceable.
