What is a Digital Product Passport?

A Digital Product Passport is a way to make selected product information accessible across a product's lifecycle. The data and access requirements depend on the applicable rules for a product and the roles of the people using that information.

For product teams, preparation starts with understanding what information exists, where it lives and how it relates to a specific product.

02

How does regulation fit in?

The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) establishes a framework for Digital Product Passports. Product-specific rules and delegated acts define the requirements that apply to particular product groups.

Requirements evolve. Organizations should consult current official guidance and qualified advisers to determine obligations for their products.
